NAKA-CHANGU-KONG (C L E A R / color-music / OUTSIDE)

In the late 1990s, NAKA-CHANGU-KONG had a life-changing experience when he was invited by a friend to a Sunday after-party at Aoyama MANIAC LOVE. The powerful baptism of sound he received there opened his eyes to electronic music.

Soon after, he began producing electronic music, creating original tracks and sound effects for independent films, and providing music and remixes to various artists in the indie scene.

In 2006, he began his DJ career based in Tokyo, and in 2007, he joined the collective “C L E A R”, becoming both an artist and the head of the music division.

With a core sound rooted in Techno / House / Tribal / Primitive, he freely incorporates Ambient, Leftfield, Dub, and Experimental elements into his sets.

As a DJ, he has performed at a wide range of underground clubs and bars across Tokyo and the Kanto region, including Kichijoji Cheeky, Jingumae Bonobo, Nakano Heavy Sick, Koenji Knock, Koenji Cave, Sangenjaya Tengushokudo, Shibuya Atama Bar, Aoyama Hachi, Fuchu Bar Not Bar, Kokubunji Fukumimi, and Club Asia, among many others in Tokyo, Nagano, Gunma, Saitama, and Kanagawa.

He has shared the stage with both top-level domestic and international artists as well as up-and-coming talents across a wide spectrum of genres, continuously honing his senses and musical intuition through countless performances at clubs, raves, and underground parties of all scales throughout Japan.

He has been involved in the foundation and development of numerous influential parties such as “Ginza GL”, “Dystopia”, “Totem”, “ROCK the Rhythm”, “Bacteria”, “Mellow Sunset”, “Monna Lisa Over Drive”, “Planet”, “Flower”, “FM”, “Psychetronica”, “Linoleum”, and many others, contributing to their early stages and evolution.

In 2010, he released “Drop of Passion (Original Mix) - EP”, followed by “Huzuni (Original Mix) - EP” in 2012, both on Color-Music.

All of his releases entered the WASABEAT Tech House / Minimal Click Top Sales Chart, ranking between #2 and #9, and achieved long-term success as underground hits.

He hosted and produced numerous conceptual events such as “Book of the Dead” @ Hasutobara (2010) and “Utambulisho?” @ Cube246 / Bar Not Bar (2011–2015).

In 2013, he joined ONNES PROJECT RECORDS, and from 2015, he served for about two years as the resident DJ of ONNES PROJECT RECORDS’ flagship event “Techno Minimal & Free.”

In 2018, he launched a new party titled “OUTSIDE”, which debuted on June 22 (Fri) at Koenji Knock.

Since early 2020, NAKA-CHANGU-KONG has been on an indefinite hiatus from DJ activities.

From 2019 to 2020, he served as a part-time advisor for Committed Japan.

In May 2020, after receiving numerous strong recommendations from pastors to be ordained but feeling a deeper personal conviction, he declined all of them and instead embraced his divine calling to become an evangelist.

In April 2023, he founded an ecclesia called “Blessing Child’s”, becoming its representative and beginning his ministry.

By combining elements of Ambient, Minimal, Techno, House, Dub, Ill, Psycho, Tribal, and Drone, NAKA-CHANGU-KONG reconstructs and redefines sonic boundaries to create a uniquely dope and ill sound.

His distinctive and unorthodox playstyle continues to gain strong support from both domestic and international peers, as well as hardcore partygoers deeply connected to the underground.

In 2017, he changed his artist name from “NAKA-CHANGU-KONGU” to “NAKA-CHANGU-KONG.”
